On May 1st, the reform regarding the reduction of the workweek was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (Diario Oficial de la Federación), making this legal change final and official. For more information, you can find our bulletin here.

Additionally, on the same day, an amendment related to the Foreign Trade Law was published:

Article 15.- Non-tariff regulations and restrictions applicable to the export of goods, as referred to in Section III of Article 4 of this Law, may be established in the following cases: […]

VI. In situations not covered by Mexican Official Standards regarding national security, public health, phytosanitary regulations, ecology, as well as labor and social security matters, in accordance with the applicable legislation. […]

As a result of the above, authorities may restrict or regulate exports if companies fail to comply with labor or social security regulations.
