{"id":2207,"date":"2026-04-27T14:57:25","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T19:57:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mggl.com.mx\/?p=2207"},"modified":"2026-05-04T23:55:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T04:55:55","slug":"reforma-reduccion-jornada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mggl.com.mx\/eng\/reforma-reduccion-jornada\/","title":{"rendered":"Amendment to the Federal Labour Law regarding reduction of working hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week, the Chamber of Deputies approved the reform to the secondary law regarding the reduction of the workday. It is expected to be published and come into force on May 1. \nThe reform includes three key points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>Working hours\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The standard workday will have a maximum duration\nof 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains the weekly mandatory paid rest day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;The employer and the employee may agree on how\nto distribute working hours across the workdays.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The reduction in working hours will not imply a\ndecrease in salaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gradual implementation under the following terms: <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table aligncenter\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">             <strong>Year<\/strong>            <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Jornada<\/strong> <strong>Semanal<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">2026<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">48<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">2027<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">46<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">2028<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">44<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">2029<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">42<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">2030<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">40<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>2. <strong><u>Overtime<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The maximum allowed overtime will be 12 hours per\nweek, not exceeding 4 hours per day and 4 days per\nweek.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overtime will continue to be paid at an additional 100% of the regular wage.
